The overlapping of multiple coats of colour and substance, corresponds to the multiple levels of which reality itself is made and its elements are combined following invisible but adamant rules, fixed time by time in order to obtain an “organic” complex that becomes artistically expressive and independent. The presence of the third dimension, the amusement of assembling and overlapping, combining and dividing the different elements of reality is the process that brings the artist back to his inner child: to the joy and wonderful astonishment he felt while discovering the world around him. In fact the title of Dente’s artworks is inspired by a child. One day on a train he heard a kid describing the window glass as “tough air”. So he defined the polycarbonate plate as tough air, as a solidification of that “Ego” that places itself between us and objective reality and transforms it.
The artist hopes that everyone can gather from his artwork the stunning wonder for the world with its endless possibilities of being interpreted and with the child freedom of re-creating and re-inventing it.

Biography
Pietro Dente was born in 1977 in Padua where he attended the Sacro Cuore artistic high school, then he continued his studies at the D.A.M.S. in Bologna, specializing in Art, where he graduated in 2003 with a thesis in Art Literature. Light: from representation to use. He has expanded his artistic interests by attending courses in graphics, design, music and photography.
After the beginnings characterized by a mix of abstractionism, surrealism, dadaism, computer-art and neo-medievalism, he began to conceive a new technique inspired by trips to metropolis such as Berlin and London, this technique has gradually become the current style of artist.
He began to compose works on two levels: the first consists of a polycarbonate plate painted with relief colors depicting more or less colored glimpses of large cities, the second consists of the underlying canvas painted with layered acrylics and treated according to particular methods. The two surfaces join together creating a single composition where the levels merge, realizing new perceptual solutions. Furthermore the plate is placed to create a wavy effect that comes out of the picture giving it the third dimension; this brings the observer closer to the work (the artwork tries to gain more space in the “real world”) and at the same time it creates different effects of shadows and reflections that change with the movement of the observer.
